Automation and Lean Manufacturing Program

The Automation and Lean Manufacturing Program is a 4-year initiative. ALMA is directing $8.05 million towards this initiative for the first year (2009/2010). It will reduce costs, speed adaptation and improve efficiencies though automation, technological advances and the adoption of best practices.

Program objectives include:

  • Increasing worker productivity and safety.
  • Improving food safety and consistency.
  • Improving market access and security.
  • Increasing sales and value of meat products.
  • Encouraging new private sector investment.

Eligible applicants include:

  • Alberta companies able to increase the sales and value of products.
  • Value chains that produce and market meat products.
  • Processors using Alberta livestock in their Alberta-produced products.
