Automation and Lean Manufacturing Program
The Automation and Lean Manufacturing Program is a 4-year initiative. ALMA is directing $8.05 million towards this initiative for the first year (2009/2010). It will reduce costs, speed adaptation and improve efficiencies though automation, technological advances and the adoption of best practices.
Program objectives include:
- Increasing worker productivity and safety.
- Improving food safety and consistency.
- Improving market access and security.
- Increasing sales and value of meat products.
- Encouraging new private sector investment.
Eligible applicants include:
- Alberta companies able to increase the sales and value of products.
- Value chains that produce and market meat products.
- Processors using Alberta livestock in their Alberta-produced products.
