Business and Product Development Program
The Business and Product Development Program is a 4-year initiative. ALMA is directing $2.22 million towards this initiative for the first year (2009/2010). It will stimulate and mentor new investment and capital expansion in Alberta’s meat and livestock sector with a focus on support for value-added meat processing companies in the province.
Program objectives include:
- Accelerating private investment in new processing facilities in Alberta.
- Assisting with market research toward a more diversified customer base.
- Complementing the Automation and Lean Manufacturing Program.
- Improving business decisions through financial and market assessments.
- Creating new business models for the industry.
Eligible applicants include:
- Alberta companies able to increase the sales and value of products.
- Value chains that produce and market meat products.
- Processors using Alberta livestock in their Alberta-produced products.
