Industry Development Program
The Industry Development Program is one of five new programs available to help Alberta’s livestock and meat industry create a profitable and sustainable future.
Program Details
A total of $5 million is available for the 2009/2010 fiscal year. This program is designed to help the livestock and meat industry achieve long term competitiveness by:
- improving our market position through innovative communications and consumer awareness initiatives;
- strengthening and increasing public confidence in Alberta’s livestock and meat products;
- improving supply chain relations through partnerships that engage consumers;
- developing education and health partnerships;
- strengthening industry’s knowledge and leadership capability; and
- enhancing the competitive position of the Alberta’s meat and livestock sector.
Eligibility requirements
- Industry associations serving the livestock industry
- Educational institutions including universities, colleges and technical schools
- Government organizations and agencies
- Private companies in Alberta that service the Alberta livestock industry
- Existing or prospective Alberta companies that can increase the value and sales of Alberta products
- Existing or prospective supply chains that produce and market meat products.
Eligible expenses
- Time for specific activities on the projects.
- Outside consultants justified as essential to the project.
- Travel to project sites, to present to or discuss project with managers and/or policy makers.
- Travel for information gathering or dissemination purposes.
- Cost of equipment directly required for the project.
- Cost of supplies directly required for the project.
- Cost of facility access directly required for the project.
- Cost associated with consumer engagement, education, communication and awareness.
- Cost associated with industry capacity and capability development, skills and leadership development, new business model creation, education and training.
Assistance is available to a maximum of $1 million of the eligible costs per project.
