Agri-Business and Product Development Program
The Agri-Business and Product Development Program is one of seven new programs available to help Alberta's livestock and meat industry create a profitable and sustainable future.
ALMA is now accepting applications for its Growing Forward programs (Automaton and Lean Manufacturing, and Business and Product Development.
Growing Forward is a Federal-Provincial-Territorial agreement with program funding available until 2013.
Program Details
A total of $2 million is available for the 2011/2012 fiscal year. The program will stimulate new investment in value-added food and agri-product processing sectors by:
- targeting agri-food processing companies and producers with innovative
- marketing driven opportunities to commercialize a product
- creating healthy or healthier products or expand their business
Eligibility Requirements
- existing or prospective Alberta agri-food processors (companies, partnerships) who are producing and marketing livestock-related value-added food products
- Alberta producers, producer groups or value chains that use or intend to use Alberta livestock inputs in food products that are produced in Alberta
- existing and prospective processors that use or intend to use Alberta livestock as inputs in their product and produce the product in Alberta
Eligible Expenses
- Feasibility studies
- Marketing plans/business plans
- Value-chain development
- Lean manufacturing/competitiveness assessments
- Product and packaging development
Assistance will be on a 50/50 cost shared basis with the applicant to a maximum of $500,000 of the eligible costs.
