- The Funding Consortium has announced the opening of the 2012-2013 Funding Open Call. This is a general call for all research proposals; however, proposals should be aligned with the funding priorities of the Funding Consortium Members. Research and Development Program
The Research and Development Program is one of three programs available to help Alberta's livestock and meat industry create a profitable and sustainable future.
Program Details
A total of $11 million is available for the 2011/2012 fiscal year. The Research and Development Program will provide targeted grant assistance for entities innovating Alberta's livestock and meat industry. The program is designed to enable both basic and applied research initiatives complementary to Alberta Livestock and Meat Agency (ALMA) research priorities. This research program will develop and deliver technologies, solutions, and knowledge to improve the competitive position of Alberta's livestock and meat industry.
This program supports all Priorities as documented in the Alberta Livestock and Meat Strategy (ALMS).
- Healthy Animals
- Healthy Food
- Production Efficiency
- Regulatory Burden (research to remove the impact / mitigate)
Eligible Applicants:
- Funding for this initiative will be available to those that directly and/or indirectly participate in the service and development of the Alberta livestock and meat industry. This includes:
- Industry associations serving the livestock industry.
- Educational institutions including universities colleges and technical schools.
- Government organizations and agencies.
- Existing or prospective Alberta companies that can increase the value and sales of Alberta products.
- Existing or prospective supply chains that produce and market meat products.
Eligible Expenses:
- Time for specific activities on the project/program
- Time for specific activities on the project/program for investigators currently funded by provincial/federal units may be acceptable as co-sponsorship contribution
- Outside consultants justified as essential to the project/program.
- Travel to project sites
- Travel for information dissemination purposes
- Cost of equipment directly required for the project/program
- Cost of supplies directly required for the project/program
- Publishing costs
- New scientific and technical personnel required for the specified research
- Graduate student research bursaries
Funding levels will be left to the discretion of the ALMA.
